Below is biography from my career in the movie and TV world. While I still am involved, I like to spend my free time carving and making unique jewelry. I also designed and maintain this web site and take the still photographs of our creations.

Colin Chilvers Biography
Born in London, England, Colin trained for his chosen career through Hornsey college of Art.
Working first as a trainee animation director, then a very short time on “2001” in the Art department, he moved on to special effects as a junior in the special effects department of the movie "The Battle of Britain". He worked on many movies as an assistant until given a chance to supervise an MGM movie "Inspector Clouseau" starring Alan Arkin". Supervising effects on "Tommy", "Lisztomania" and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" among many others, he was then asked to direct the special effects for "SUPERMAN THE MOVIE", "SUPERMAN" II and III. He was honoured by both the British and American academy with the Special achievement award, OSCAR, for Special Effects on "SUPERMAN THE MOVIE."
At the beginning of 1986 Colin joined Michael Jackson to direct his next promotional video "SMOOTH CRIMINAL". Colin and Michael worked together for two years on what became the movie "MOONWALKER". The video "SMOOTH CRIMINAL" received many awards, including, "Best video of the year" from the British music awards.
Following completion of this project with Michael Colin was called to Toronto to direct the 2 hour TV pilot of "WAR OF THE WORLDS" and subsequently the "WALLS OF JERICHO". Then Colin went to Florida for Viacom where he directed 5 episodes of the TV series "SUPERBOY". He has also directed hundreds of TV commercials and sales promotion films for a diverse spectrum of products including toys, beer, fashion and vacations.
Recently he has devoted much of his time producing and directing effects for highly technical movies, and is also directing commercials, promotional videos, visualizations and designing and producing video content for Web sites and Trans-media . Colin is also on the advisory committee of Niagara College and has an honorary doctorate from Brock University for his contribution to the movie industry. He was also in Florence, Italy this year to receive a “Legend” award from the Nemo arts Academy.
Colin offers a wealth of special effects knowledge in both Visual and Special effects combined with directorial experience. His unique vision and understanding of the client's wishes, problem solving ability, together with an appreciation of budget and schedule make him a valuable asset to any production.
Colin still maintains an active interest in visual effects through his association with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and with 4 nephews and a niece, the Corbould family, who also work in visual effects and between them have 3 academy awards.
Colin has been a guest speaker or judge at the Ontario Science Center, Brock University, Niagara College, the Niagara Integrated Film Festival and the Hamilton Film Festival.
Colin recently received the Nemoland Legend award for his contribution to motion pictures from the Nemo Academy in Florence.
